The decision on the appeal over a controversial housing plan for Barrow will now be delayed until March.

The plans for 38 dwellings off Manor Road and Rating Lane, Barrow, are the subject of an appeal from developers, Story Homes, who had their original proposal rejected by Barrow Borough Council in December 2014.

The inquiry for the appeal, which has taken place at Barrow Town Hall this week, was originally scheduled to conclude this evening.

However, the decision on the appeal will now be pushed back, with a site visit being conducted during that time.

Since the original proposal, the housing plan has received criticism from campaigners to the potential close proximity to the listed building of the historic Furness Abbey and surrounding listed assets.

The decision is due to take place on March 10, at Barrow Town Hall, where both parties will sum up their cases from the inquiry and presiding inspector, Richard McCoy, is expected to reach a conclusion.
