A POWERFUL campaign led by the Evening Mail's sister news organisation the News and Star is in the running for a top award - and YOU can ensure its success.
The Save Our Services campaign is one of 28 successful campaigns nationally which have been shortlisted for a Local Newspaper Week Making a Difference accolade.
The winner of which will be decided by a public vote.
Save Our Services was launched to urge a rethink of controversial plans to overhaul parts of the NHS in north, west and east Cumbria including, most controversially, radically reforming maternity care at Whitehaven's West Cumberland Hospital. The proposals sparked fears among communities in south Copeland that services would be badly affected.
There was a huge response to the campaign, with 10,000 people signing a petition backing the calls.
