A MEETING is due to take place this morning which will decide the fate of a controversial Barrow pet store.

Inspectors compiled a number of reports after visiting Living World in Dalton Road and recommended councillors sitting on Barrow Borough's Licensing Committee refuse owner Wayne Moffat's application for a new licence over his continued failure to meet a variety of conditions.

A report detailing various inspections carried out between 2016- 2017 found many of the store's snakes had not been given enough water; housing and enclosures for several creatures did not meet health and safety standards, and, a suitably qualified vet for the Caiman reptiles and Marmoset monkeys had not been found.

Mr Moffat denies he has failed to meet these conditions and says he feels the council is "targeting" him.

He added: "I will fight for my business."
