NEW police constables are being recruited to serve on the streets of Barrow.

The new constables will play a key role in serving their local community whilst being provided with an exciting opportunity to assist us in tackling crime and antisocial behaviour through community policing.

Chief Superintendent Mark Pannone said: “We’re looking to recruit highly motivated, intelligent and committed people to be our new police constables.

“Those applying should have integrity and be interested in working hard to serve and improve their local community.

“Policing is a challenging profession but extremely rewarding and your application could be the first step on a long and successful career path with Cumbria Constabulary.”

The application process has been streamlined so that some of the more time-consuming elements have been removed or greatly reduced, making applying easier than before.

A series of recruitment evenings are to be held across the county where people interested in finding out more about being a police constable can come along, hear more about the role and ask questions.

Sessions will be held at Barrow police station on Tuesday March 7 - one from 5.30pm-6.30pm and a second from 6.30pm-7.30pm.

Cumbria Constabulary will also be hosting a Facebook chat on 2 March 2017 at 6pm where people can ask questions and receive more information about the process and being a police constable. Go to facebook.com/cumbriapolice for more.

Police and Crime Commissioner, Peter McCall, said: “Cumbria Constabulary is a great force working hard to protect the people of Cumbria, and I am really pleased that we are in the position to recruit police officers. Policing is a fantastic career with many challenges and opportunities.

“It also offers rewarding work in a dynamic and fast paced environment where you have to show real leadership, and most importantly make a difference to your local community.

“There is no such thing as the ideal background, we just need good people, why not go along to one of the open evenings, it is a great way to get some insight into what this worthwhile career has to offer.”
