CIDER TASTING and live music has been the order of the day for hundreds of people this bank holiday in Barrow.

The crowds are enjoying a range of real ciders and a host of bands at Hawcoat Park Sports Club's Ciderfest today.

Ciders, including a beetroot and orange flavour, are on offer at the Barrow sports club.

There are almost 800 pints to be supped by festival goers this year. Most people have been opting to have half pints of the ciders as some are 8.5 per cent volume, like Lilleys Gladiator Cider, a medium sweet cider.

Andy Woods, general manager at Hawcoat Park, said: "This is about the fifth or sixth year of Ciderfest at Hawcoat Park.

"It's been really busy and everyone seems to be having a good time and enjoying the cider and the music. The music really makes it."

This year's bands and singers have included Paper Cranes, The Dales, Serene, Pariahs, The Coulton Brothers, When All Else Fails, Lilac Day, Fight for Friday, Mad Jack and the Ad-Libs, Abbie Clarke, Johnny Regan, Jack Hayes, Louis Kelly, Jordan and the Band, and Collie Stewart.
