CHRISTMAS carol flash mobs will pop up around Barrow tomorrow (16) to spread festive cheer in the town.

Flash mobs will appear at five locations in the town centre at around lunchtime for 30 minutes of carol singing.

The groups will start outside Thorntons, Debenhams, Sports Direct, Marks and Spencer and Santander at 12.30pm.

The groups will then gather at the Spirit of Barrow statue on Dalton Road at 1pm, where they will be joined by the Salvation Army band.

Robin Ham, one of the team leading Grace Church Barrow, said: "The carols flash mob is a fantastic chance for us to publicly celebrate the good news of Jesus' birth, both visibly in town and audibly as we sing these much-loved songs that capture so well what Christmas is all about.

"The very fact of this carols flash mob is a sign that Christians across Barrow are committed to their town and believe that the meaning of Christmas is found in God giving the ultimate gift of himself."

Lieutenant Martin Davison, of Barrow Salvation Army, said: "Everyone loves singing a few carols at this time of year so we'd love people to come and join in with what promises to be a simple but really memorable and heart-warming event."
