A BARROW family are enjoying some extra special festive celebrations as their bundle of joy arrived on Christmas Day to join his brother who turns one on New Year's Day.

Nicholas Graham Killip was born at Furness General Hospital, in Barrow, at 2.50am on Christmas Day weighing 7lbs 10oz. The newborn, whose name is inspired by Father Christmas - aka St Nicholas, is a brother for Carlos Killip who was born almost 12 months ago on New Year's Day.

The beautiful boys are the sons of delighted parents Laura Aitchinson, 23, and Louis Killip, 43, of Barrow.

Proud mum Laura said: "Nicholas is just perfect. We are shocked as we didn't expect a Christmas Day baby and with Carlos being born on New Year's Day. What are the odds of having a baby on Christmas Day and New Year's Day?"

The mum had gone into hospital at 11.30pm on Christmas Eve and just over three hours later Nicholas arrived. The Christmas baby was expected to be a New Year baby too as he was due on January 5.

The happy family said they had received very good care and thanked the FGH staff. They were able to leave hospital by lunch time and enjoyed Christmas dinner at home.

Later on Christmas Day morning another set of proud parents were welcoming their first child.

Ada-Grace Smith was born at FGH at 10.37am weighing 7lbs 15oz to mum Abbie Zaccarini, 19, and dad Connor Smith, 23, of Barrow.

Ecstatic dad Connor said: "It's very special to have a Christmas Day baby, she's perfect and beautiful. It feels great to be parents.

The first time parents had also gone into hospital on Christmas Eve at around 11.30pm.

Ada-Grace was a late arrival, having being due to enter the world on December 19.

The family had Christmas lunch at hospital and they were also allowed home the same day so enjoyed some more festive fare at home.
