POLICE are appealing for information after a group of young children broke into a Barrow shed and made off with an axe.

Cumbria Police are investigating reports of a shed break in and criminal damage which occurred last Wednesday (27) when a group of young children broke into the property in Grosvenor Street, Barrow.

It is believed the children, aged between six and 10 years of age, climbed over a back fence before causing criminal damage to a car, forcing entry into a locked shed and taking an axe around a foot long with a wooden handle and a knife.

They then left the area still in possession of the potential weapons.

One of the youths, a girl, was described as being around six years old and having long, mousy-brown coloured hair, wearing a blue and white summer dress.

One young male, believed to be around seven years old with short mousy-blond hair, was wearing a purple top and dark-coloured trousers.

The third male had short, dark coloured hair and wore a blue jumper, white polo shirt and dark grey-coloured trousers.

A fourth male, believed to be around 10 years of age wore a black tracksuit jacket with stripes and black tracksuit bottoms with blue stripes and was wearing glasses and also had his hood up.

The youths have been captured on CCTV playing in the front street with both the axe and knife.

Should any of the parents or members of the public have any information, they are asked to contact Cumbria Police in 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800555111.
