CHARGES against a pensioner accused of crashing into four parked cars have been dropped after she completed a driver awareness course.

Gillian Nora Thompson, of Piel View Grove, had been accused of crashing into two parked cars in South Row and then colliding into two others in South Row, Barrow, on March 13 of this year.

The 76-year-old was alleged to have been driving an Audi A3 when for no apparent reason she is said to have collided with two parked cars, continuing to ride up on to others, causing damage to four cars in total.

Thompson was due to appear at Furness Magistrates' Court today having been charged with driving without due care and attention.

The Crown Prosecution Service confirmed the charge has been dropped following the completion of the driver improvement programme.
