CAMPAIGNERS are seeking creative ways to raise much-needed funds for a bus service in danger of facing the chop.
The x112 travels between Barrow and Coniston and has been in difficulty ever since 2014 when council budget cuts scrapped vital subsidies.
So far, funds have come in the form of sales from a recipe book backed by Hairy Biker Dave Myers which raised more than £6,000.
Now the friends of the x112 support group are planning an art auction selling work supplied by local and national artists.

Barbara Harris, event organiser, said: "We have to think about different ideas to raise awareness and money for the service.
"We understand the need to cut back but if you are cutting back on your household budget, you don't cut everywhere.
"I don't think the council realise the social implications losing this service will have.
"An awful lot of people in the local community don't have cars so the bus is so essential, it's a no-brainer to keep it."
The service runs on cash from ticket sales and donations.
Cumbria Country Council said that all bus subsidies had to go but stressed it was "nothing personal" to those in smaller communities heavily relying on the transport.
A spokesman added: "It's not that we don't recognise the value of these services but there's just no money for funding because of budget cuts."
The charitable auction will take place at the Fishermans Arms hotel, Baycliff, on September 17 from 2pm until 5pm. Mrs Harris hopes to have around 30 different pieces available for bidders, from watercolours to oils and photographic works.
Mrs Harris and her husband Roger have been trying hard to fund raise but are also keen to encourage more passengers on board.
A sponsored walk is also taking place on August 13, with passengers and supporters of the group walking the length of the picturesque route.
Children and dog walkers are encouraged to join in the event and two 85-year-old women have already signed up.
