POLICE have released CCTV images of men they would like to speak to in connection with the theft of wedding gift money from a hotel in Windermere.

On August 13 a wedding was held at the Beech Hill Hotel. That night wedding cards belonging to the party were opened and the contents were stolen.

Thieves left with approximately £1,500 worth of cash and gift vouchers including 150 Croatian kuna. It was planned that some of the money would be donated to the Alice’s Escapes charity.

Police would like to speak to four Asian men who checked in at the hotel at 12.40pm on the day of the wedding and checked out at 3.20am on August 14. They left in a car and headed towards Bowness.

Detective Constable Cheryl Smith said: “We would like to speak to anyone who can identify or who has information on the men pictured in the CCTV.

“The vouchers stolen are for Debenhams, Abbey House, Next and Custom House. We would ask that these businesses keep an eye out for those using these vouchers. If you do see someone matching the CCTV images, please contact us.

“A proportion of the money donated by weddings guests was intended for Alice’s Escapes. We would like to trace those responsible for stealing this money and bring them to justice.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 or alternatively contact Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
