BARROW Market was evacuated and firefighters were called out after a fire alarm was set off by burnt rice pudding.
The alarm went off at around lunchtime yesterday at Barrow Market, the rice pudding is understood to have been made in one of the premises on the outside of the building. The market was evacuated while firefighters from Barrow inspected the scene.
Yesterday's call-out isn't the first time firefighters have been tasked to reports of burnt food.
In May, two fire crews were called out after a drunk man burnt his Bratwurst sausages at a Barrow Island flat.
The following month, firefighters were tasked to the Devonshire Dock Hall at the shipyard in Barrow after a tray of burnt potato wedges set off a fire alarm.
