INQUIRIES continue following two incidents in Broad Close, Barrow, which saw a fridge-freezer set on fire.

Police have appealed for witnesses to come forward to help them investigate a disturbance and an act of arson which took place on Friday (1).

Two incidents were reported to police, the first around 2pm which involved a male and a female arguing outside a block of flats. Police have said the pair were related, and that the woman had something thrown over her during the dispute.

The second incident took place at 5pm when a fridge-freezer was set alight outside the same location.

Three fire engines from Barrow and Ulverston were called to the incident. The crews used one hose reel jet, two breathing apparatus and a positive pressure ventilation fan to extinguish the fire.

They were on the scene for 35 minutes.

Anyone with information about either incident or who can identify the two people seen arguing is asked to contact DC Livett from the Barrow Public Protection Unit on 101.
