A BARROW teacher who has taught seven children from the same family has been thanked in the perfect way with the Evening Mail's Bouquet of the Week.

Chloe, Daisie, Jakob and Freyah Nelson and Jordan, Ryan and Aimee Everett have all been taught by David Younger of St Pius X Catholic Primary School.

The deputy head of the Scheider Road school has taught all seven youngsters in either Year Five and Year Six across the best part of a decade.

The youngest member of the Everett-Nelson family, Freyah, will be the last to leave the school this summer.

Kimberley Everett wanted to mark the occasion by nominating Mr Younger for the Bouquet of the Week on behalf of her children, Chloe, 18, Daisie, 14, Jakob, 12, and Freyah Nelson, 11, and her step-children, Jordan, 20, Ryan, 17, and Aimee Everett, 14.

Speaking after being presented with the special flowers, Mr Younger said: "It was a lovely gesture. It was touching really.

"I taught them all and I think I taught Ryan for two years as his class moved with me from Year Five to Year Six. I taught Chloe in Year Five.

"They were all very different characters but very outgoing. They are really, really pleasant kids.

"When we get to the end of a family we do miss them and we wait for the next new families to come along."

In her nomination, Mrs Everett praised the school for its caring approach and the wonderful staff who have worked there over the years.

She said: "Our seven children have all attended St Pius School for the past 14 years and the youngest leaves this year.

"This is a great milestone for our family as we leave such a wonderful school that has helped all our children grow.

"We will never be able to thank them enough for all their great teaching, help and support throughout our children's primary years."
