MOTORCYCLING fanatics have generously donated almost £600 to a hospital unit as part of an annual fundraiser.

Earlier this week, Furness British Motorcycle club made their yearly donation to the Child Development Unit at Furness General Hospital as committee members handed over a cheque for £590.

The funds were raised following the club's annual Classic Bike & Car show which was held September last year at Hawcoat Park, Barrow.

Veteran motorcycling racer and keen supporter of the club, Les Trotter, admitted that the hospital unit is an important cause for the club to support.

The 74-year-old, who lives in Barrow, said: "It's a cause close to our hearts and for about 10 years we've been raising money for them.

"As always the club would like to thank everyone for their continued support."

The club, who support many charities each year including the Air Ambulance services, presented the money at a club night at Ulverston Leisure Centre.

Club nights are open to the public and held fortnightly at the Priory Road sports club with the next meeting scheduled for Monday January 23 at 7:30pm.
