A BARROW businessman has donated a gift worth £450 to a prominent charity raising money for a maternity appeal.

Gary Searle, director of Park Road’s Searle Audio has shown his support for the Bayb's Maternity appeal by gifting the charity with a 32in flat screen smart TV worth £450.

The TV will be fitted in one of the new birthing suites at the soon to be opened unit at Furness General Hospital.

Heidi Bowron, Bayb’s appeal co-ordinator, said: “We are extremely grateful to Gary for this gift.

"Gary’s business is very well known in town and is one of a number of local companies now coming forward to support the appeal in a show of real community spirit."

The audio visual specialist is one of many local businesses supporting the appeal which launched in February and is now just £75,000 short of achieving its £250,000 target by the end of the next financial year in March 2018.

Bayb's is funding 'extras' for the new unit which is set to open on Valentine's Day, and will be made up of 14 birthing suites, all with en suite bathrooms and wall-mounted TVs.
