A BARROW woman breached her asbo after getting drunk because of her sister's tragic death and the loss of her children, a hearing was told.

Sara Louise Arnold appeared before Furness Magistrates' Court and admitted the offence.

Prosecutor Mr Lee Dacre explained how police were called to reports of a disturbance in Egerton Court, Barrow Island.

He said: "The day following the disturbance, they went back to chat to local residents and the defendant, who had been involved. She became aggressive and abusive and was making threats to other residents. Young children were also in the area at the time she was shouting and swearing.

"A police community support officer found that a lot of residents were scared of her.

"She appeared to be under the influence of alcohol and was drunk. No further action was taken regarding the disturbance but her actions breached the anti-social behaviour order."

The court was told that Arnold had 10 convictions for 19 offences. She was given the asbo on April 8, 2013 and had breached it on two previous occasions.

Arnold, of Egerton Court, pleaded guilty to the breach of March 31 when she appeared before the court on Thursday.

Miss Maureen Fawcett, defending, said: "Miss Arnold had been to see her children. She had had a traumatic day. She came back and saw a gang had set about a male friend of hers. She went in to try and pull them off him. No further action was taken by police over this matter and she became angry when police came to speak to her about it.

"She has had a very tough year and it is coming up to the anniversary of her sister's tragic death. Also her children are being looked after by others.

"She had started drinking more as a result of what happened to her sister and her kids and is also on anti-depressants.

"She realises she went over the top that day and caused alarm to residents."

Magistrates said, as it was the third breach of her asbo, she would be electronically tagged for 12 weeks. She would have to be at the given address - her boyfriend's - in Tay Court, Barrow, between 7pm and 7am every day except Wednesday, when she would be under curfew between 10pm and 7am.

The defendant's sister Lisa Arnold died suddenly on July 21 last year.

The community pulled together to make sure the 36-year-old mum of five had a fitting tribute.

Her sisters, Donna, 33, Amanda, 32, and Sara, began fundraising online to help their parents with the funeral costs.

Within a week their Go Fund Me page had received donations of more than £700 and they have received two offers of help in arranging a headstone or plaque.
