TOILETRIES and washing powder manufacturer McBride, which has a factory in Barrow, has appointed a chairman elect following the announcement of Ian Napier's retirement.
McBride is a major employer in Barrow with a factory in Park Road employing around 140 people.
It has appointed John Coleman, a former chief executive of department store chain House of Fraser, to succeed Mr Napier who steps down at the end of June.
The two will be working closely over the next two months to ensure a smooth transition of responsibilities.
Mr Coleman is currently chairman of Bonmarché, PJSC M Video and Barchester Healthcare.
He is a former chairman of Aga Rangemaster and a former director of Travis Perkins. He has also served as chief executive of Texas Homecare, and was a member of the senior management team at Burton Group.
