A FEMALE van driver from Barrow is due to appear in court accused of causing a serious crash on the A590 at Swarthmoor.
A white Vauxhall Astra van, a SEAT Ibiza and a Ford Transit van were involved in the collision at approximately 2.30pm on July 22 of this year.
Firefighters from Barrow and Ulverston worked to cut free Tom Irving, the husband of former Ulverston mayor Councillor Helen Irving.
The road was closed for almost six hours.
Simone Eastham, 30, of Byron Street, Barrow, has since been charged with driving without due care and attention by crashing a Ford Transit van into the back of one of the vehicles.
Eastham is due to appear at Furness Magistrates' Court in Barrow on Tuesday November 1.
