A TEENAGER from Barrow has been banned from driving for a year after being found behind the wheel with cannabis in his system.
Jake Watson, 19, of Hawcoat Lane, pleaded guilty to driving a Ford Fiesta with 2.1 microgrammes of Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol in his blood at Furness Magistrates' Court yesterday.
The legal limit is 2 microgrammes per 100ml of blood, to take into account people who might have inadvertently inhaled cannabis.
Mr Lee Dacre, prosecuting, said Watson was spotted in Marsh Street by a PC who was concerned by his driving on October 30.
Mr Trystan Roberts, in mitigation, said Watson smoked a joint in the morning and thought he was okay to drive later in the day.
Watson was disqualified from driving for 12 months and fined £120.
