A MAN who threatened to kill his mother and bathe in her blood in one of a series of horrific Facebook posts has been sent to a young offenders' institution for eight weeks.

Jack Daniel Frederick Beale, 19, of no fixed abode, admitted sending abusive and threatening messages to his mother Naomi Wilde, who lives in Yorkshire, from September 15 to September 20.

He was sentenced to eight weeks in a young offenders' institution just three months after he was locked up for assault for throwing a trainer at his grandmother and trapping her in a toilet at her Ulverston home.

Mr Lee Dacre, prosecuting, told Furness Magistrates' Court how Beale posted a number of distressing comments on Facebook.

He threatened to end his mother's life in a message with knife emojis and wished her a "terribly slow and painful death."

In one gruesome post, Beale also said that he was going to slice his mother's throat and take a bath in her blood.

Mr Michael Graham, defending, said that his client, who suffers from attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and obsessive compulsive disorder, is ostracised from his family and only has direct communication with his grandmother, Paula Whittall.

He added: "He now feels stupid about the postings and would never have done them if he had known it would have meant him being arrested. He did not plan to carry out any of the threats that were made."

Presiding magistrate Mr Everley Buckley said that the bench had no other option but to sentence Beale to eight weeks in custody due to the extreme nature of the language used and the distress caused by the threats that were made.

Beale also sent the menacing messages while he was subject to a crown court order and post sentence supervision.

As well as a custodial sentence, the bench also ordered him to pay a victim surcharge of £115.
