BARROW showed its support for Manchester during a minute's silence in memory of the victims of the terrorist attack earlier this week.

A minute's silence was observed at workplaces, public places and in private homes at 11am today, to remember the victims of the attack at Manchester Arena on Monday.

Workforces at Barrow Police Station, the fire station and Barrow Town Hall were among those who stood silently in a show of solidarity.

Similar tributes were held across the UK, with crowds gathered at well-known sites including London's Parliament and Trafalgar Squares, and Manchester's Albert Square.

The square in Manchester has become a focal point over the last couple of days, with people laying flowers in the centre and coming together for vigils.

Hundreds of people gathered outside Greater Manchester Police headquarters for the minute of silence, with crowds pouring out of nearby buildings to join the officers.

Other police forces across the country joined in the act of remembrance, with a show of solidarity also taking place at Scotland Yard.
