A MAN has appeared in court charged with a stabbing on a Barrow street.

John Paul Jennings, 27, appeared at Furness Magistrates' Court today charged in connection with the stabbing of a man on Rawlinson Street, in Barrow, on November 7.

The attack was close to the junction with Harrison Street at around 4.25pm.

A 37-year-old man from Barrow was injured after being stabbed multiple times in the head.

Jennings, of Stamfordham Drive, Liverpool, has been charged with Section 18 wounding with intent, and being in possession of a bladed article.

He did not enter pleas during the hearing.

The case has been committed to Preston Crown Court for a hearing on January 6.

A bail application was made but refused by Judge Gerald Chalk and Jennings was remanded in custody.
