A SHOPLIFTER has been jailed after pleading guilty to stealing perfume and meat worth a total of almost £300.
Shane Carter, of Low White Close in Barrow, appeared at Furness Magistrates' Court on Monday charged with two counts of theft.
The 41-year-old, who was already subject to a suspended jail sentence, pleaded guilty to stealing six bottles of perfume from Debenhams on May 17 and three packets of meat from the Co-op on June 4.
Magistrates activated his suspended sentence and he was jailed for a total of 81 days.
The court heard Carter had been given a suspended sentence on March 28 when he was convicted of stealing a pair of headphones from B&M Bargains and toiletries from Murray's Chemist.
