SIRENS screeched their way through Barrow town centre after a young woman was hit by a car.
People gathered at the bottom of Dalton Road after witnessing the accident in Abbey Road.
Police were called at 4.20pm to reports of a road traffic collision involving a pedestrian.
The young woman has suffered minor injuries and has not been taken to hospital.
An eyewitness said: "I was walking along and saw a girl crossing the road.
"She was looking up Abbey Road and started to run and went straight into it.
"She bounced right off the windscreen and landed on her backside."
The girl is now being treated by paramedics.
