A REPEAT Barrow offender already serving time for a violent crime has been handed a hefty bill after pleading guilty to a charge he had formerly denied.

During a hearing held at Furness and District Magistrates Court on Wednesday last week, Daniel James Treen admitted to making a threatening phone call to Peter Matthews on Friday March 10. The 26-year-old, of Tay Court, Barrow, was handed a four-week prison sentence to run alongside the one he is currently serving for previous offences. The charge was treated as particularly serious due to the level of threat and the defendant’s offending record.

Treen was ordered to pay £150 court costs and a £115 victim surcharge.
