A BARROW pub and restaurant has closed for a refurb following a takeover by new owners.

The Owl and the Pussycat in Hindpool Road closed on Father's Day, June 19, and is set to reopen under new ownership next month.

The venue, which was part of the Fayre and Square chain, has become part of the Hungry Horse chain and the refurb will include new interior as well as family-friendly booths featuring built-in TVs.

The Wacky Warehouse section for children will continue to be part of the restaurant. Hungry Horse is a chain of more than 245 restaurants, the nearest being in Carlisle and Fleetwood.

The Owl and the Pussycat's general manager, Angie Chester, said the venue is due to reopen to the public on July 12.
