A BARROW police officer has been dismissed without notice.
Ross Lister was a serving PC in the town but has now been dismissed following a misconduct special case hearing yesterday at Cumbria Constabulary headquarters.
The decision was made by Chief Constable Jeremy Graham following a Facebook comment posted by Mr Lister.
Chief Con Graham ruled Mr Lister's behaviour amounted to gross misconduct.
Mr Lister is also due to appear in court following the incident after the Crown Prosecution Service authorised a charge for malicious communications.
A court date is yet to be confirmed.
