A BEAUTY pageant winner is taking it to the next level with the hopes of being crowned Miss England after becoming the first local girl to have made it to the finals in ten years.

Jordan-Louise Smith, 17, of Fairfields Lane, Barrow has made it through to the next stage of the beauty pageant world after already being crowned Junior Miss South-Lakes in October 2013 and Miss Cumbria in February. 

Jordan-Louise who is studying for her A-Levels in maths, German and history at Chetwynde School, lives with her Mum, Kim, 45 and Dad, Ian, 51. 

The 17-year-old will be going head to head with 49 other girls at the Miss England final on August 13 and 14 at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry.

On getting through to the final of Miss England, Jordan-Louise, said: "My family are really proud. They have been absolutely fantastic as there is a lot to do in the run up to the competition. 

"Everyone has been really brilliant helping me with all the fund raising. My Mum has just been fantastic." 

The final, which has numerous rounds, will expect the girls to create an Eco outfit made entirely out of recycled materials and have the option to take part in a beach swim wear round. 

If she wins the Miss England crown, Jordan-Louise will receive an all expenses paid trip to the Miss World final, where she will be in with the chance of winning $100,000, a luxury holiday to Sri Lanka and a whole list of other amazing prizes. 

Receiving an automatic pass into the Miss England contest after winning Miss Cumbria in November, the teenager, said: "I was so surprised to win Miss Cumbria so It still hasn't really sunk in. 

"I am the first local girl to have made it to the Miss England final in ten years."

Along with taking part in the traditional catwalk style contest, Miss England contestants are invited to take part in a sports boot camp round, talent rounds as well as fund raising for the Miss World charity, 'Beauty with a Purpose' which raises funds for disadvantaged children all over the world. 

Holding raffles, washing cars and setting up an online fund-raising account are just some of the events Jordan-Louise has held in attempts to raise money for the charity.
