A FURNESS optician is warning of the importance of regular eye tests as part of National Eye Health Week.
Following the publication of a new report by charity Royal National Institue of Blind People and Specsavers, people are being warned that the UK's eye health crisis is set to deepen as almost a quarter of people are ignoring the first signs of sight loss.
Barrow Specsavers director, Julie Dixon, said: "It's astonishing that so many people are needlessly living with or at risk of sight loss in the UK today.
"Half of all sight loss cases are preventable - and a simple eye test can be the first step in prevention."
