A MAN from Barrow could lose his driving licence after he admitted causing a four-vehicle crash on the A590.

The crash took place close to Rusland Pool at around 2.45pm on August 11 last year and caused tailbacks of up to five miles in both directions on the A590.

Motorists faced a detour via Coniston and Windermere to get from Greenodd to Backbarrow, a 35-mile or one hour-plus diversion.

A red Ford Fiesta, being driven by Anthony Johnson of Bay View Grove in Barrow, crashed into the back of a car which was turning right, causing that car to collide into a number of others.

One motorist suffered injuries as a result of the crash.

At Furness Magistrates' Court yesterday, Johnson, 56, pleaded guilty by post to driving without due care and attention.

The court has ordered Johnson appear for sentencing on March 7 at 10am.

Convictions for driving without due care and attention can attract a penalty of disqualification or between three and nine penalty points.
