A BARROW man had to be treated for smoke inhalation after trying to put out a deliberate shed fire at his home.

Firefighters from Barrow were called to a house in Bridgegate Avenue at around 12.45am in the early hours of this morning. A shed had been set on fire in a garden by an unknown person and the occupier, a man in his 40s, had attempted to put out the fire himself.

Firefighters treated the man at the scene and paramedics and police also attended.
