A 29-YEAR-OLD man who broke the terms of a restraining order by making threats towards his ex-partner has been jailed.

Adam Steven Deakin, of Styleman Walk, Barrow, who was prohibited from contacting Julie Mathieson after an order was put in place in December 2015, pleaded guilty after appearing before Furness Magistrates' Court on Tuesday.

The pair came face to face in Salthouse Road, Barrow, on December 4, forcing the victim to take solace in Co-op in Roose Road to evade Deakin.

The defendant was sentenced to 106 days in prison and made to pay a victim surcharge of £115 upon his release.
