THE case of a man accused of rape, as well as a charge of assault, has been sent to the crown court.
Jack Johnstone appeared at Furness and District Magistrates Court yesterday (July 17). The 20-year-old, of Broad Close, Barrow, is accused of assaulting a woman by beating her. The offence is alleged to have taken place in Barrow on Saturday (July 15).
He is also charged with raping a woman in Barrow yesterday.
Johnstone’s case will next be heard at Preston Crown Court on Friday August 18 at 10am. The defendant has been remanded in custody until that date.
