A BARROW man will appear in court on Friday accused of stabbing another man in the town centre.

Daniel Thomas William Barker pleaded not guilty to offences of wounding and possession of an offensive weapon when he appeared at Furness Magistrates' Court last month.

The 24-year-old, of Anchor Road, is accused of stabbing Rocky Thompson in Barrow town centre, close to Specsavers in Dalton Road, at around 10.15am on Wednesday October 12.

Mr Thompson, 25, from Barrow, was taken to Furness General Hospital with significant facial injuries and was later transferred to Royal Preston Hospital.

Barker was remanded in custody until his next court appearance at Preston Crown Court on Friday December 9.
