A BARROW man has appeared in court charged with a string of allegations that he sexually abused two girls.
Darren Clarke, 38, pleaded not guilty to a total of 16 counts of causing or inciting sexual activity, sexual assault, sexual activity with a child, causing a child to watch a sexual act and child cruelty.
He also denied possession of indecent images and failure to notify the police of a change of address during the hearing at Preston Crown Court today.
Both of Clarke’s alleged victims were under 16 at the time they said they were abused.
Clarke, now of Chatsworth Street, Carlisle, has been granted bail and will return to court on May 8 2017 to stand trial in respect of the allegations.
During the hearing, the defendant spoke only to enter his pleas and confirm he understood legal proceedings.
