A MAN has appeared in court charged with assaulting his partner as she held their baby girl in her arms.

Kevin Wilfred Mossop of Worcester Street, Barrow pleaded guilty to assault by beating at Furness Magistrates' Court on Tuesday August 30.

The court heard how Mossop grabbed his partner's wrist in a bid to prevent her from calling police after an argument about finances escalated on August 21.

Defence solicitor, Trystan Roberts confirmed there had been no injuries caused to the baby and said: "My client is extremely sorry and shows an enormous amount of remorse."

Mossop was ordered to pay a fine of £300, court costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £30.
