A BARROW man avoided activating a suspended prison sentence after admitting obstructing a police officer as she sought to help his friend.
Morgan Kayne Bowes, 21, of Barnfield Lane, pleaded guilty to the charge when he appeared before Furness Magistrates Court today.
He was given a suspended sentence after a similar offence in November.
Bowes called an ambulance after his friend fell through a window in Emlyn Street on April 7.
As paramedics and police attended the scene, Bowes prevented officers entering the house to check if anyone else was injured inside, demanding to see a search warrant before allowing them inside.
Magistrates opted to extend the length of his suspended sentence for a further six months. He was also fined £100 and ordered to pay £100 court costs and £30 victim surcharge.
