A BARROW man has appeared in court after allegedly stealing bedding and curtains worth more than £300.

Marc Whitehead, 40, of Millbank, Ormsgill, pleaded not guilty to the theft from Dunelm Mill at Furness Magistrates' Court on Thursday.

It is alleged that on May 31, Whitehead entered the Barrow shop and took £319.93 worth of goods.

The 40-year-old will also appear in front of magistrates in relation to a charge of dishonestly using a quantity of electricity without due authority, which he denies.

Whitehead elected for a summary trial and was remanded on bail until October 17.

He has also been excluded from entering Dunelm Mill.
