A BARROW man has been taken to hospital in Preston after being stabbed in the chest, head and shoulder.

The 37-year-old was attacked yesterday at around 4.25pm, near to the junction of Harrison Street and Rawlinson Street in Barrow.

He suffered stab wounds to his chest, head and shoulder and was taken to the Royal Preston Hospital where his injuries have been described as serious.

Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward to help their investigation.

Detective Inspector Helen Ellis said: "This has been a serious attack on a 37-year-old male.

"At the time of the incident there were a number of motorists and pedestrians in the area and I would appeal to anybody who witnesses this incident to contact police on 101 or via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
