A MAN has appeared in court charged in connection with an alleged knife attack at a Barrow amateur rugby ground.
John Doherty, 24, of no fixed abode in Barrow, appeared at Preston Magistrates' Court today on charges of section 18 wounding and possession of an offensive weapon.
The charges relate to an alleged incident at Roose Pioneers Rugby Club, Redwaters, Barrow, on March 4, where a Walney Central ARLFC player was injured.
Doherty did not enter any pleas at the hearing. The case was committed to Preston Crown Court and is due to be heard on April 11.
Doherty was remanded in custody.
