AN experienced hairdresser and stylist from Barrow beat off competition from some of the region's top salons to win an industry award.

County Brides, host of the North West Wedding Awards, held its ceremony this week in Manchester.

The firm organises wedding fairs throughout the year and also produces an annual publication.

Barrow-based self-employed hairdresser Juliet Moore won the Best Hair category out of 30 nominated stylists at this year's awards.

The freelance colour specialist and hair stylist has more than 15 years' experience and graduated from Tony&Guy and L'Oréal in Manchester with distinction. She previously worked at Toni&Guy in Southport before moving to Cumbria and working from the firm's Lancaster salon.

In 2015 she launched her own business from her home in Barrow and began styling bridal hair two years ago.

One of her reviews, from Sarah Goss, said: "Juliet styled my hair for my wedding and her hairdressing skills are A+++ absolutely perfect, I couldn’t rate Juliet highly enough! And the nicest person you could ever meet! Thank you so much."

Bride Emma Conway said: "This lady is fab at what she does. She did our wedding hair; I have had this poor woman demented with videos, pictures and changing my mind every other day!

"But she was never anything other than professional and on the day we all looked amazing thanks to Juliet. I highly recommend booking her."
