TICKETS are still available for a charity event set to take place in Broughton next weekend.
Danielle Fitzsimons, a Year Two class teacher at St Pius X Catholic Primary School, was diagnosed with breast cancer in October. The mum-of-two had to leave the Barrow school that month to start treatment at Furness General Hospital Oncology Unit.
Family and friends of the popular teacher are getting behind her to help raise awareness and funds for Cancer Research UK. The Fighting Fitz team has events planned for each month of 2016 and next Saturday will host an open mic night in Broughton.
The event will be held at the Victory Hall from 6pm on Saturday July 9 with entertainment from the likes of Phil Hayward, Tom Little, Russ Peers, Katie Lane, The Chadelics, The Next Stop and Larkins. Food will be available from the Black Cock Inn. Tickets for the adult-only open mic night cost £8 and are available by calling 01229 208645.
Upcoming fundraising events for Fighting Fitz include a skydive later on July 17 and music and arts festival Rock the Fells on July 23 in Bootle.
