WE asked footballers and managers from Barrow who they would like to take over from Roy Hodgson, after England's defeat to Iceland in Euro 2016.

DAVE ROUND, Vickerstown manager

On the defeat to Iceland: "Like everyone else I thought it was pretty awful. It was tactically inept. The big time players let us down like Rooney, Sturridge and Sterling. They have underperformed. I thought they should be at least in the last four. They have got quite a young team. I thought at least the last four in this tournament to push onto the next World Cup."

On who should be the next England manager: "I think we need to go foreign. I would think either Conte from Italy, Mourinho or Ancelotti - they would get the team well drilled. They looked all over the place defensively and at set pieces."

NEIL DOHERTY, former Barrow AFC winger

On the defeat to Iceland: "It was obviously very disappointing, but I actually feel as though we do have a good young team. On the day, despite the fact we had most of the ball, we didn't have that creativity to open up the Iceland defence. I disagree with people saying the players weren't trying. They were trying really hard but nothing seemed to click. You have to look at the manager. We had the component parts but he failed to make them work tactically."

On who should be the next England manager: "I really don't know. On ITV after the game they showed a list of the favourites for the job and I have to say none of them excited me. I think Gareth Southgate may be the favourite."

DANNY LIVESEY, Barrow AFC player

On the defeat to Iceland: "It was a bit disappointing. They went out with a whimper. I have never seen an England team dominate the possession as much as they did in the group stages. On the whole it was positive coming out of the group, I thought someone could be on the end of a thumping if things get things come together. You have to say it was the pressure as when if play Iceland in a group game or in a friendly this wouldn't happen."

On who should be the next England manager: "Maybe someone with fresh ideas who isn't afraid if we go out of a tournament to go out having a go. I think Gareth Southgate did really well with the under 21s and Middlesbrough but he's come through the FA. I would go with someone different away from the FA."
