BARROW firefighters were among those sent to a major blaze at a home in south Cumbria.
Crews were called out to a detached domestic property on High Hundhowe, Burneside at 1.52am today.
Eight engines from Cumbria attended the incident, which involved the ground and first floor of the property, measuring approximately 15m by 20m.
Fire crews, two wearing breathing apparatus, used four compressed air foam system jets, three main jets, two hose reel jets, two 12.5m ladders and height safety equipment. Crews were detained at the scene overnight, until 4pm, while they checked the structural integrity of the building and damped down the house.
