A DRIVER has been disqualified from driving for almost two years after refusing to provide a breath test for police when suspected of drink driving.

Robert Robertson, of Marsh Street in Barrow, appeared before Furness Magistrates' Court on Tuesday charged with failing to provide a specimen of breath for analysis for the police.

The 29-year-old was stopped in the early hours of Sunday November 13 when he was observed mounting the pavement and driving into a house before driving off.

He was then found by police parked sideways in the road with the engine revving and going forwards and backwards between pavements.

Mr Michael Graham, defending, claimed that his client had been "badgered" by his sister to move his car all day and finally decided to do so without thinking.

He said that Robertson put up no resistance or made no argument at the scene.

Robertson pleaded guilty to the incident and received a 21-month ban, was fined £120 and ordered to pay £85 in costs and £30 victim surcharge.
