A CYCLIST from Barrow has described being knocked off his bike in an alleged hit-and-run incident on the Coast Road.

Stephen Clarke, a labourer at Leck Construction in Barrow, was cycling along the A5087 Coast Road on Saturday afternoon.

During his bike ride, the 22-year-old said a number of motorists overtook him without incident but a white Fiat 500 is alleged to have collided with him and knocked him off his bike.
Mr Clarke said: "I was going down the Coast Road near Aldingham, a few cars passed me and one car went to overtake me and crashed into me and knocked me off my bike."

The cyclist suffered a number of cuts and bruises and a suspected broken nose and admits that he was lucky not to be more seriously injured as he was not wearing a helmet.

He added: "Luckily I didn't hurt my head, it could have been a lot worse."

Anyone with information, or who knows the driver of the white Fiat 500 which was reportedly involved, is asked to ring police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
