A MALE choir is set to perform a homecoming gig after returning from a five-night singing tour across Europe.

Last month, 22 members of the Barrow Male Voice Choir travelled to Belgium and Holland where they sang in cathedrals, museums and even in front of passengers on a ferry crossing the North Sea.

The trip, which saw 48 people in total enjoy the sights and surroundings of mainland Europe, was organised by county councillor Barry Doughty, who is a tenor for the group.

Under the guidance of their musical director Anthony Milledge, the choir performed a programme of songs including the popular country song Linden Lea and the Titanic classic My Heart Will Go On .

The ensemble are now preparing for their annual concert which will see them perform at St James' Church in Blake Street, Barrow, on Wednesday October 19.

The concert starts at 7.30pm and will include a performance with youngsters from St James’ School Choir.

Tickets can be bought in advance by ringing Keith Newby on 01229 472383 or on the door for £8.
