A butterfly walk is set to take place today at one Barrow's lesser known beauty spots.
The Cumbria branch of Butterfly Conservation have organised a walk around the northern end of the Slag Bank, near Ormsgill.
The walk is open to all, including well behaved dogs on a lead.
It is hoped attendees will be able to find the rare Small Blue butterfly which populates the Slag Bank.
The event will take place today (Friday 25) at 10.30am, meeting at the Walney Road Car park, near the Barrow Recycling Centre.
