A BUSINESSMAN will next week go on trial alongside his business partner after a food hygiene inspection highlighted a number of alleged failings.
John Wormall, 47, and business partner Gemma Rowlands, 36, have both denied the nine charges under the Food Safety Act.
Inspectors from Lancaster City Council’s environmental health department visited The Castle Inn in Main Street, Hornby, on November 18 2015.
Wormall, known in Barrow for having run Paulo Giannis and his involvement with new venue The Townhouse in Dalton Road, is alleged to have been operating the business under the name Another PG Ristorante, a limited company established in April 2013, along with his wife.
Rowlands is alleged to have been the business owner of The Castle Inn at the time of the alleged offences.
As a result of the inspectors' findings, Wormall, Rowlands and Wormall's wife Sarah Martindale were each charged with nine offences relating to contravening of Food and Hygiene Standards.
Judge Heather Lloyd granted all three defendants unconditional bail and scheduled a trial to take place on October 16.
Monday's trial only lists Wormall and Rowlands as standing trial while Martindale's case is listed to be mentioned.
